About the Bender
Rosalie (Rosie) Phillips began bending glass in 2021, and in 2023 she established her own bending practice under the name Neon Signs from the Universe out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In her studio work she allows her mind to daydream on everyday realities and forgotten childhood moments. She aims to distill these complex and ephemeral scenes into their focal point – their internal light. Her work explores both traditional flat line-work and 3D sculptural works, experimenting with different ways to fill space with light. She focuses primarily on "beer sign"-scale works that offer unique and mesmerizing illumination in homes and common areas.
Outside of her studio work, Rosalie is a product design engineer in the medical device space, and holds an undergraduate degree from MIT in engineering with a minor in art & design.
